Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 - Update
Just checking in for today. Much of my day has been consumed with zoom meetings...individual pastors, networks of pastors, and with our Ohio Valley District as a whole. The common theme is one of compassionate concern, excitement for what God may be doing during this time, and curiosity for how others are practically remaining connected to one another. Most are live-streaming, emailing, face-booking, telephoning and more. Presently, mass contact by email is our best option (it may change). So I am encouraging you to urge everyone you know to contact the office and be added to the church email list. We do have people in our body who do not have or use computers...please take the initiative to call them and fill them in regularly! This is really the time for the body to be the body! And if you need practical help, Scott Mason is spearheading that...his cell # is 629-204-9018
Speaking of the office, we have not yet nailed down what the office hours will be during this time. But we hope to know by tomorrow and will let you know!
The weekly prayer sheet that includes international and local needs is prepared each Wednesday. While no prayer group will be meeting here on Wednesdays, anyone can email and indicate that you would like the prayer resource and Sue will send it to you. And do not hesitate to send us prayer requests of all kinds...it's possible that some think, well, with all that's going on, I probably shouldn't share...but please do!
Sue has sent out the multiple ways we can continue to faithfully give...we have cut expenses to the minimum here, but we want to continue to be generous in our beyond the walls giving as able. Our international workers still need support for sure. And Beulah Beach Camp for example, is facing major financial challenges with no revenue due to cancelled camps. We want to look for ways to take the lead in being generous and will keep you posted.
We will send out the live-stream link for worship on this coming Sunday later in the week again. And we will be saving our weekly worship on our Youtube channel for those who cannot join us live to watch when they can. Joining together in worship weekly is so important. Even though it is in a very different format, let's not forsake getting together as we are encouraged to do so in the book of Hebrews.
As for today's word of encouragement or perspective---every time you find your mind wandering into some area of worry about all this, shift immediately to prayer. It takes the same amount of energy and produces a whole lot more peace! If some of you are saying, "Why if I did that, I would be praying all the time!" Yep! :)
You are so loved!
