March 28th, 2020 Update

Greetings Church! So many of Paul's letters to churches end with a benediction that expresses the desire that grace and peace be theirs. May it be ours too, every day, at our beginning, middle, and end! ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. Join us tomorrow at 10:15 for our live-stream worship gathering. We continue each week to attempt to add technical improvements while inviting the Holy Spirit to be the only spirit that dominates our time together.  Tomorrow we feature a "two little pigs" story for kids (and maybe adults too). Please continue to invite others to join us as appropriate...or point them to another live-stream gathering if you think it better fits them.  We are all in this together as the body of Christ!  Live-streaming begins at approximately 10:05at our you tube channel: www.youtube.com/c/cornerstonealliancemarion 2. Youth reminders- Tomorrow morning's video lesson can be found at https://youtu.be/_J3DxSMFoo.  Youth group will begin tomorrow night at 5:30 PM via ZOOM. Jenny is sending youth group related updates through the remind app. 3.  Are you participating in the Scavenger Hunt that Carrie Mason sent out?  Winner announced next Sunday! 4.  Received word today that Dayspring will be doing their Good Friday and Easter gatherings via drive-in at their parking lot. I'm praying the Lord uses it greatly. This is something we have considered too at some point or from time to time...and whether we ever do that or not, praying for ideas to combine on-line presence and nearby presence for some gatherings.  Sometimes it's just good to really see one another, eh? GLIMPSES OF GRACE Talked to one of our senior saints today who is in the midst of major change on top of the pandemic issue.  He shared that in many ways, he feels he has never been closer to the Lord and that so blessed my heart.  Lean in, dear friends to God's grace in Christ Jesus.  Scripture doesn't exactly say we won't be given more than we can handle. But it does say we will be provided a way of escape so that we can press on.  Grace when exercised, is always more than enough. DEVOTIONAL COUNTDOWN TO EASTER (The 14 Biblical Stations of the Cross...abbreviated from our Lenten Guide-"The Unvarnished Jesus") Station #1: Jesus in Gethsemane (Mark 14:32-42) "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death."  "Take this cup from me, but not my will, yours be done."  In many ways those words shock us and remind us that Jesus was fully human as well as fully God!  He wasn't pretending to be human, he truly emptied himself and became a servant.  Temptation wasn't a game to him, he was tempted in every way we are.  Jesus gave up divine privilege to enter into our suffering and ultimately defeat sin and death and hell. And by His stripes, we are healed! IN CLOSING: Think about this.  If in early January I sent out to each of you an email saying 5-10 people in Marion had contracted the flu and a couple of them were in the hospital, hopefully you would wish them well but certainly wouldn't give it much more thought.  But as of today, those are basically the statistics for the Coronavirus in Marion County, and we are in major shutdown.  What's the difference?  Well, at least two major differences---the mortality rate for this virus is incredibly higher than the flu, and the rate and potential extent of the spread of this virus is incredibly greater than the flu!  Transformation (the impact of this virus) and multiplication (the rate it is spreading around the world) make it a pandemic.  Interestingly enough, transformation and multiplication is what the church most truly is to be about.  Transformation (seeing Christ followers  become more and more like Jesus in the power of the Spirit, displaying the fruit of the Spirit) and multiplication (disciples slowly but surely making disciples who make disciples who make disciples)is our mission.  In these days, may we more than ever be committed to the spread of the gospel/good news virus! In Christ, Pastor Tim
