April 5th, 2020 Update

Good early evening Church, It was good to worship live with many of you this morning!  And many have already joined us since the gathering this morning too.  Please be aware that all gatherings are now being posted at our YouTube channel to view whenever.  If that is appropriate to pass on to friends, please do so.  Also, we want to get the word out to as many people as possible in any way connected to those of you who are a part of our body for whom our Easter gathering might be just what they need. Call them, Facebook them, whatever! There are thousands of great live streams going on out there and we rejoice with everyone of them that lifts up Jesus.  But the Holy Spirit has a wonderful way of drawing the right people to the right settings to connect with their hearts.  We trust Him in that and cooperate with Him by prayerfully inviting to our gathering those He brings to mind! Special events coming this week: - Park and Pray on Wednesday evening in our north parking lot from 6:30 PM to 7:25 PM. - Live-streamed Good Friday gathering on Friday night @ 6:30 PM. (Make sure you have nails and communion elements of some kind). - Live-streamed Easter Celebration gathering on Sunday @ 10:15 AM. (And yes, we will be doing a mix of traditional and contemporary Easter songs!!!) TODAY'S COUNTDOWN TO EASTER DEVOTIONAL (Adapted from our Lenten Resource, "The Unvarnished Jesus") The Ninth Biblical Station of the Cross: Jesus and the Weeping Women (Luke 23:27-31) In many ways the women who followed Jesus stand out as the bravest of the early disciples.  When the eleven scattered or denied, the women hung in there and followed.  And their hearts of compassion were so obvious, both in taking spices to the tomb and in today's passage as they walk with Jesus to the cross and weep for Him. And while Jesus responded compassionately to them, his pain was for what their children would face (the destruction of Jerusalem).   I am quite sure during this pandemic and the response to it, unlike anything any of us have seen unless we are possibly more than 105 years old, there is many a grandparent and parent among us wondering "what will the future hold for our children and grandchildren!" I think grandparents and parents are always wondering that, but maybe especially during this time!   There are two parts to our answer to that question.  The first is that honestly we don't fully know.  The second is this, until that day that Christ returns, His grace will be enough for every generation! And so we commit our children and grandchildren from the weakest of hands (our world's wisdom and systems) to the strongest of hands (new life lived out in the power of the Holy Spirit). And the most powerful thing we can pray for our children and grandchildren is that they might fully come to know Jesus, live all out for Him in the power of the Spirit no matter what, faithfully be light to all in their spheres of influence consistent with their gifts and passions and abilities, making disciples who make disciples, and seeing the deepest desires of their hearts met in Christ Jesus! Marlene and I are praying that...are you? In Christ, Pastor Tim
