DESCRIPTION:During the eighth century BC\, the Northern Kingdom of Israel e
xperienced a period of unprecedented economic growth. But this financial b
oom wasnt enough for Israels elite. To increase their already robust profi
ts and fund their already upscale lifestyles\, they leveraged their powerf
ul positions to exploit their poor neighbors. They often did so under the
guise of worship. Their actions violated Gods laws\, trampled Gods people\
, and defamed Gods name.  God took exception to Israels acts and commissi
oned Amos\, a farmer from the Southern Kingdom of Judah\, to speak on his
behalf. Through this prophet\, God stood up to the rich and spoke up for t
he poor. He condemned Israels religious\, economic\, and judicial leaders
and their practices. He pronounced impending judgment and proclaimed futur
 e salvation.\n \nJoin us for this study led by John Massey\nSundays 9/13-
